The economic activities that recorded the biggest increase in the non-wage component were: NACE Rev. 2 section J – ‘Information and communication’ (+4.4 %), B – ‘Mining and quarrying’ (+3.9 %) and G – ‘Wholesale and retail trade repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles’ (+3.4 %). In the EU, in the third quarter of 2021 compared with the same quarter of the previous year, the economic activities that recorded the highest increases in hourly wage costs were: NACE Rev. In the EU, hourly labour costs grew by 2.8 % in the (mainly) non-business economy and by 2.9 % in the business economy: +2.7 % in industry, +2.7 % in construction and +3.1 % in services. In the third quarter of 2021 compared with the same quarter of the previous year, hourly labour costs in the euro area rose by 2.6 % in the (mainly) non-business economy and by 2.4 % in the business economy: +2.0 % in industry, +2.5 % in construction and +2.6 % in services.
